Velislava Petrova Assumes Office as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria

Velislava Petrova-Chamova officially assumed the office of Minister of Foreign Affairs from Nadezhda Neynsky during a formal ceremony held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Bulgaria’s newly appointed top diplomat noted that the opportunity given by the Bulgarian people to the new government to govern with a substantial majority carries significant responsibility. In this context, she underlined the key role of the diplomatic service and the need for stability and consistency in the country’s foreign policy.

“The greatest strength of this Ministry is its people. I will rely on your professionalism and support. I believe that Bulgaria will secure its достойно place not only in Europe, but also in the world,” Minister Petrova addressed the senior leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

For her part, Nadezhda Neynsky congratulated the new Foreign Minister and highlighted the importance of continuity and professionalism in Bulgarian diplomacy. According to her, Bulgaria today is a respected and reliable partner in international relations, having achieved significant foreign policy successes such as membership in the European Union, NATO, the Schengen Area and the eurozone.
