Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Radi Naydenov Receives the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tunisia

On 17 April 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between Deputy Minister Radi Naydenov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tunisia to the Republic of Bulgaria, resident in Belgrade, H.E. Ms Imen Ammari.
A key focus of the discussion was the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries – a historic milestone providing an excellent opportunity to further intensify political dialogue and economic partnership.
The two diplomats discussed the ambitious schedule of initiatives planned for the anniversary year 2026. Ambassador Imen Ammari expressed her deep appreciation for the support provided by the Bulgarian side in the preparation of the commemorative events, which commence with today’s joint concert by Bulgarian and Tunisian musicians at the Ivan Vazov National Theatre. The event, organised by the Embassy of Tunisia with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and the Sofia Municipality, is a testament to the vibrant ties between the two nations.
During the meeting, it was underlined that the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries, scheduled to take place on 3 June 2026 in Tunis, will provide an opportunity to identify concrete initiatives for enhancing and deepening the friendly relations between Bulgaria and Tunisia in key areas such as the economy, education, culture, and tourism, as well as to conduct a review of the bilateral legal and contractual framework.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Deputy Minister Radi Naydenov reaffirmed Bulgaria’s commitment to continue supporting Tunisia’s efforts towards democratic reforms and economic stability, both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of the European Union – Tunisia Strategic Partnership.
