Bilateral Political Consultations Between Bulgaria and the Kingdom of the Netherlands at Director-General Level for European Affairs

On 15 April 2026, bilateral political consultations between Bulgaria and the Kingdom of the Netherlands were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Director-General level for European affairs. The Bulgarian delegation was headed by Mr Yordan Parvanov, Director-General, while the Dutch delegation was led by Ms Heleen Bakker, Director-General for European Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
The bilateral consultations covered a broad range of issues, including bilateral relations, EU enlargement, internal EU reform, the next Multiannual Financial Framework (2028–2034), the Black Sea region, migration, the rule of law, and competitiveness. Both sides underlined their intention to deepen cooperation and to maintain a regular dialogue on EU-related matters, including enlargement, the Multiannual Financial Framework, and migration.
The Netherlands is a key economic partner of Bulgaria and, in recent years, has ranked among the leading foreign investors in the country.
