Minister Neynski held a telephone conversation today with the Minister of State for Europe and North America of the United Kingdom, Stephen Doughty. During the conversation, the current situation in the field of regional and international security was discussed, including developments in the Middle East.
The strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the United Kingdom in the fields of defence and security was reaffirmed, as was the importance of enhanced cooperation in combating organised crime and illegal migration. Both sides noted the role of joint efforts in strengthening regional stability and ensuring the security of allies and partners.
The interlocutors emphasised the need for processes that contribute to strengthening the transatlantic link and ensuring strategic stability.
During the conversation, views were also exchanged on developments in Ukraine, including the need for sustained diplomatic efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace. Broader dimensions of international security were also addressed, including the protection of critical infrastructure, freedom of navigation, and regional connectivity.
Opportunities for deepening bilateral cooperation in the fields of security and defence were discussed, as well as prospects for joint initiatives aimed at enhancing military and civilian mobility in the region. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining an active and constructive dialogue at the highest political level.
