Mrs Tapaswarage Priyangika Dharmasena, for the Presentation of Copies of Her Letters of Credence

On June 5, 2025, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Nikolay Pavlov, received copies of the letters of credence of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Bulgaria (with residence in Warsaw), H.E. Ms Tapaswarage Priyangika Dharmasena.

Both sides gave a high assessment of the long-standing relations of traditional friendship between Bulgaria and Sri Lanka. Readiness was expressed to activate political dialogue and to promote direct business-to-business contacts, with the view of increasing trade and deepening cooperation in priority economic sectors, including tourism, agriculture, and information technologies. The importance of cultural and educational exchange was acknowledged.

The important role of cooperation between the European Union and Sri Lanka was underlined, with Ambassador Dharmasena expressing appreciation for Bulgaria's constructive role within the EU in relation to her country.

Satisfaction was also expressed with the excellent dialogue within international organizations and the mutual support for candidacies under the auspices of the United Nations.
