Minister Georgiev Announces the Reopening of the Bulgarian Sunday School "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" in Egypt

The Bulgarian Sunday School "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" in Egypt has resumed its activities. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr Georg Georgiev, during his two-day visit to Cairo.
The news, which follows a lenghty suspension of the school’s operations, was warmly welcomed by members of the Bulgarian community at the Bulgarian Embassy in the capital of the African country.
The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Cairo held a solemn celebration to mark 24 May – the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture, and of Slavic Literature.
The event was attended by representatives of Bulgarian communities in Egypt and Sudan, along with their families and friends of Bulgaria, as well as members of the Egyptian and Bulgarian business circles.
In his opening address, Minister Georgiev expressed his satisfaction at being able to celebrate the occasion alongside fellow Bulgarians from Egypt and Sudan..
The Bulgarian top diplomat highlighted the role of the literacy in shaping Bulgarian identity and noted that Bulgaria was the first country to adopt the Cyrillic alphabet.
The Minister also emphasised the work of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius and their disciples, recognising their substantial contribution to spreading enlightenment and spirituality among other Slavic peoples.
The gathering was met with great interest from the community.
The celebration continued with traditional musical performances by young Bulgarian talents Samuil Dimitrov and Siyana Hedr, who continue to achieve success in competitions and win awards.
