Deputy Foreign Minister, Maria Angelieva, Receives Republic of Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Olimjon Abdullaev, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On 14 May 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Maria Angelieva, received the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr Olimjon Abdullaev, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the development of bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan, with a focus on consular cooperation and collaboration in the field of labour migration.
In the course of the discussions, Mrs Angelieva highlighted the traditionally good and constructive bilateral relations, which have evolved in a spirit of mutual understanding and goodwill. She emphasised that Bulgaria regards Uzbekistan as a priority and long-term partner in Central Asiia – one of the region’s leading countries. Bulgaria’s interest in fostering a broad-based, long-term and mutually beneficial partnership with Uzbekistan, both bilaterally and in multilateral formats. At the same time, she noted that our bilateral trade and economic relations with Uzbekistan require further activation, especially in the context of Europe-Asia connectivity. As an additional impetus for developing ties with Uzbekistan, she pointed to the EU’s policy of enhanced partnership and cooperation with the countries of Central Asia.
As part of its working visit to Bulgaria, the Uzbek delegation – led by Mr Bekhzod Musaev, Chair of the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan – will also hold meetings at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the Employment Agency, the Ministry of the Interior, as well as with representatives of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association.
