On 17 April 2025, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ivan Kondov, held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey and Chairman for EU Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Mehmet Kemal Bozay. Deputy Minister Bozay was in Bulgaria to participate in the annual “EU Meets the Balkans” forum at the invitation of the event organisers. During the meeting, a review was conducted of the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Turkey, with a focus on active cooperation between the two countries in areas such as combating illegal migration, border security, the economy, trade, and more. Views were also exchanged on current issues, including EU-Turkey relations, the war in Ukraine, and the situation in the Middle East.
