Minister Georg Georgiev held a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptians Abroad of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Badr Abdelati. The conversation established a new working contact between the two ministers, based on mutual trust and support, which is in line with the long-standing friendly relations between Bulgaria and Egypt.

During the conversation, Minister Georgiev and Minister Abdelati discussed the progress in bilateral relations and noted the positive trend of their development in recent years. They also highlighted the occasion in connection with the upcoming centenary in 2026 of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Egypt.

The two ministers agreed to set specific periods during the current year for holding a new round of political consultations, as well as for organising the next sessions of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation and the Joint Commission for Cooperation. These initiatives will give new impetus to the development of bilateral relations in various areas of mutual interest.

Minister Abdelati informed Minister Georgiev about the main directions of Egypt's new plan for Gaza and indicated that consultations with friendly countries are forthcoming before its official presentation to the US and the international community. In this context, Egypt stressed the importance of partnerships with European Union countries, including Bulgaria.

Minister Georgiev highlighted Egypt's key role in efforts to de-escalate and stabilise the Middle East, stating Bulgaria's firm commitment to supporting international efforts to achieve sustainable peace and strengthen security in the region.

Minister Georgiev and Minister Abdelati agreed to hold a meeting in the near future and exchanged invitations for visits. The readiness of the two countries to continue and deepen the active political dialogue at all levels was confirmed.
