The Minister of Foreign Affairs discussed with his Turkish counterpart the fight against illegal migration and the protection of the EU's external borders

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Georg Georgiev, discussed with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, security and defence policies, the fight against illegal migration and joint actions on border control.
The meeting took place within the framework of the Munich Security Conference, in which Minister Georgiev participated.
"Turkey is not only our neighbour, but also an ally in NATO, a trading partner, an important factor in terms of transport and energy supplies," said Minister Georgiev during his conversation with Mr. Fidan.
The Bulgarian Foreign Minister pointed out that the further development of bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Turkey in all areas of active cooperation is one of the priorities of Bulgarian foreign policy, based on a pragmatic, results-oriented approach.
Minister Georgiev and Minister Fidan agreed that excellent sectoral cooperation has been built between the two countries in a number of areas of mutual interest and that its further deepening is important and will be beneficial to both countries.
