Minister Georg Georgiev Meets with His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel

Today, a meeting was held at the Synodical Palace in Sofia between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Georg Georgiev, and His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel. The meeting was initiated by Minister Georgiev on the occasion of his assumption of office as head of Bulgarian diplomacy.

During the conversation, issues related to the role of faith in modern society were discussed, as well as the importance of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church for the spiritual unity and national identity of Bulgarians worldwide. The two interlocutors emphasised the importance of moral values and traditional foundations for the sustainable development of society.

Within the framework of the meeting, opportunities for cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church were discussed, including joint initiatives in support of Bulgarian communities abroad. Minister Georgiev expressed readiness for active dialogue with the church institution and stressed that the state highly appreciates its role in social development.

Patriarch Daniel, for his part, emphasised that the Church has always been a pillar for the people in difficult times and will continue to be a symbol of spiritual resilience and moral strength. He expressed readiness for future meetings and joint actions for the benefit of Bulgarian citizens.

The two sides united around the idea of cooperation in the name of national unity and the spiritual well-being of Bulgarian society.
