Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Ivan Kondov received the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Ms Dai Qingli

On 28 November this year, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ivan Kondov, received the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Ms Dai Qingli. The occasion for the meeting was the celebration this year of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and the People's Republic of China. Minister Kondov and Ambassador Dai gave a positive assessment of the achievements of the two countries in the development of relations based on traditional friendship and mutual respect and elevated in 2019 to the level of strategic partnership. Events and initiatives were identified for the coming year to continue and build on the fruitful interaction. On the Bulgarian side, gratitude was expressed for the introduction of a visa-free regime for Bulgarian citizens travelling to China for business, tourism and private visits for stays of up to 30 days.

Minister Kondov noted the untapped potential for deepening relations in trade, investment and tourism. He shared Bulgaria's interest in achieving balanced trade, increasing exports of agricultural products and food to China, attracting investments and developing transport links.

Minister Kondov and Ambassador Dai exchanged views on current international issues, including Russia's war against Ukraine. On the Bulgarian side, our continued commitment to the protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine was reaffirmed.
