Official Ceremony for the Presentation of Letters of Credence by Ambassador Tihomir Stoytchev to His Majesty King Charles III

On December 5, 2024, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland H.E. Tihomir Stoytchev presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Charles III at Buckingham Palace.
During the meeting with His Majesty King Charles III, Ambassador Stoytchev emphasised the cultural ties and the long history of over 145 years of diplomatic relations that bind our two countries. The Joint Declaration signed in October 2023 elevated these relations to a "strategic partnership".
The two interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the Republic of Bulgaria and the United Kingdom in the field of combating illegal migration, security and defence, trade and economy, technology and innovation, science and education, culture and tourism. The role of the numerous Bulgarian community, which serves as a natural bridge between the two nations, was also highlighted.
After the ceremony, the traditional reception Vin d'Honneur took place at the Embassy building, attracting many high-ranking guests. Among them were Baroness Patricia Rawlings, a member of the House of Lords, and Mr James Asser, a member of the House of Commons. Also present were representatives from the Foreign Office and other British ministries, ambassadors from countries accredited in London, advisors to MPs in the British Parliament, representatives of business circles, and members of the Bulgarian community.
Among the special guests wеre Mrs Victoria Busby, Director Protocol and Vice-Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, Mr Marian Nestorov, the first Bulgarian in the United Kingdom elected as Mayor of Medway, and Mr John Brisby, the chairman of "Friends of Bulgaria" in London.
Ambassador Tihomir Stoychev and Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps Alistair Harrison addressed the audience with welcoming remarks. They raised a toast for the friendship and prosperity of Bulgaria and the United Kingdom, emphasizing the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries.
