The Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Valencia has not received any official information confirming the reports in the media about a Bulgarian citizen found dead as a result of the floods in Spain.

According to Spanish authorities, the identity of only about 40 of all confirmed flood victims is currently known. The procedure to identify the identities of the bodies found requires relatives to lodge a complaint with the police about the disappearance of their relatives, then provide a DNA sample for comparison. According to Spanish authorities, more than 1 900 people are missing.

Our representation in Valencia continues to monitor the situation and is in constant contact with the competent Spanish authorities.
