Minister Ivan Kondov met with the Minister for European Affairs of the Czech Republic Martin Dvořák
30 October 2024 NewsOn 30 October 2024, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a meeting took place between Minister Ivan Kondov and the Minister for European Affairs of the Czech Republic Martin Dvořák, who is visiting Bulgaria.
The two sides highly appreciated the bilateral cooperation between the two countries and discussed the opportunities for deepening the interaction in the various areas of mutual interest, both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of international organizations. Minister Kondov expressed his gratitude to the Czech Republic for the assistance provided in extinguishing the fires raging in Bulgaria in July this year.
In the course of the talks, the Czech side reaffirmed its strong support for Bulgaria's early abolition of controls at the Schengen land borders. Minister Kondov noted the significant reduction of attempts for illegal migration through the country as a result of the efforts made and expressed his expectation for a positive decision of the Council of the European Union by the end of the year, which would abolish the checks at our Schengen land borders.
Among the topics of the talks were topical issues on the European agenda, support for Ukraine and EU enlargement. Both sides underlined the importance of respecting the principle of own merits in fulfilling the conditions and commitments made in the EU enlargement process.
