Meeting of Minister Ivan Kondov with the Ambassadors of the Member States of the European Union
19 October 2024 NewsForeign Minister Ivan Kondov met today with the heads of the embassies of the EU member states in Bulgaria. The meeting was organized on the initiative of H.E. Mr. Miklós Boros, Ambassador of Hungary to Bulgaria, whose country currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The topics on the EU agenda were at the centre of the meeting of the Bulgarian foreign minister with the ambassadors of the EU member states in Sofia. Minister Kondov expressed his expectation for a positive decision of the EU Council by the end of this year on the abolition of controls at our Schengen land borders.
Among the issues discussed was the enlargement of the EU, based on the principle of own merits in fulfilling the conditions and commitments.
Minister Kondov and the European Ambassadors also exchanged positions on the current developments in the Middle East region, the continued support for Ukraine in response to Russian aggression and other issues on the international agenda.
Ivan Kondov also emphasized on the good progress of our country in the process of accession to the OECD, noting the active cooperation between all structures responsible for the process in our country with the committees of the Organization.
