On 17 September 2024, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms Elena Shekerletova, received copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Bulgaria (based in Kiev, Ukraine), H. E. Mr Idris Kadyrkulov.

Bulgaria has traditionally considered the Kyrgyz Republic as a reliable partner, along with other countries in the Central Asian region. The two countries have traditionally maintained good and constructive bilateral relations, in a spirit of friendship and goodwill. The two diplomats agreed on the need to intensify and expand bilateral trade and economic contacts.

Bulgaria is interested in intensifying its bilateral relations with the Kyrgyz Republic and supports their deepening both bilaterally and in the context of the EU Strategy for Central Asia adopted in 2019 and the EU's policy of enhanced cooperation and partnership with the Central Asian countries in the light of the ongoing processes there as a result of the serious geopolitical and economic changes.

During the meeting, the desire of both sides to expand bilateral cooperation in various areas of mutual interest was confirmed, with a special focus on participation in bilateral and/or multilateral projects on Europe-Asia connectivity.

Issues related to current developments in the international situation, challenges to global stability and peace and other topics on the international agenda were also discussed.
