On 17 September 2024, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms Elena Shekerletova, received the copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Dominican Republic to the Republic of Bulgaria, based in Ankara, Republic of Turkey, H.E. Mr Elvis Alam.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Shekerletova congratulated Ambassador Elvis Alam on his appointment and wished him successful implementation of the set priorities aimed at strengthening bilateral ties. The two sides praised the bilateral relations and expressed their readiness to work together to further strengthen and expand them. Emphasis was also placed on the positive dynamics and mutual support between Bulgaria and the Dominican Republic in international organizations and forums.
The intensification of bilateral relations in recent years was noted with satisfaction, and opportunities for their deepening in various areas of mutual interest were also discussed. Special emphasis was placed on the very good cooperation established in the field of culture and education. There was a shared desire to promote trade and economic ties and tourism.
The role of the dialogue between the European Union and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States as a complementary platform to support cooperation between the two regions was also highlighted.
