Political consultations at Director General level between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Slovenia

On 26 January 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted political consultations between Bulgaria and Slovenia at the level of Directors General for European Affairs. The Bulgarian delegation was led by Mr. Yordan Parvanov and the Slovenian delegation by Mr. Anžej Frangeš.

Bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Slovenia are based on long-standing friendship, constructive partnership within the European Union and NATO and a number of common interests. 

The consultations between the two countries are in the framework of the intensive bilateral political dialogue, exchange of positions on topical European, regional and international issues and common interests for cooperation in sectoral policies.

In the course of the discussion, both Directors General for European Affairs reviewed and identified opportunities for deepening all aspects of bilateral cooperation, including trade and economic relations, defence, energy, innovation, science and education, tourism and sport.  Opinions were also exchanged on the enlargement of the European Union, the situation in the Western Balkan countries and the future of the EU.
