The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms Elena Shekerletova, received copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bulgaria, Mr Miroslav Toman.
During the talks the two sides discussed the traditionally good bilateral relations, the long-standing cultural ties between the Bulgarian and Czech people, the partnership of Bulgaria and the Czech Republic within the European Union and NATO. The interlocutors stressed the importance of the dynamics of political dialogue for achieving common goals, as well as the prospects for economic cooperation, with an emphasis on mutual attraction of investments in the field of high technologies, innovation, artificial intelligence, as well as opportunities for supporting start-up business initiatives.
The two sides agreed on the view that the cooperation between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Czech Republic has a great potential for development and the newly appointed Ambassador Miroslav Toman stated his readiness to work on a wide range of topics within his diplomatic mandate.
Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova thanked for the support of the Czech Republic for the first stage of our country's accession to Schengen and introduced H.E. Ambassador Toman with the state of the negotiation process on Bulgaria's accession to the OECD as one of the foreign policy priorities. A special focus of the discussion was the topic of opportunities for cultural exchange, with a focus on cultural diplomacy, student mobility, scientific exchange and tourism.
The two diplomats also discussed topical issues on the international and European agenda, including the European perspective of the Western Balkan countries, support for Ukraine, migration, and the future of green energy.
