Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov handed over the certificates of successful completion to the participants of the 17th Ministry of Foreign Affairs Trainee Attaché Course ‘Nikola Mushanov’ organised by the Diplomatic Institute.

The Minister congratulated the trainee-attaches at the end of their three-month training and wished them success in their future development on the path of professional diplomacy. ‘The diplomatic service is one of the foundations of Bulgaria's statehood. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is among the first departments established after the liberation of Bulgaria,’ Minister Kondov emphasized.

The aim of the training of the young diplomats was to present the specific characteristics of the work of the diplomatic service in the formation and implementation of Bulgarian foreign policy. Within a number of specialised modules, the course covered topics in the field of diplomatic practice, diplomatic protocol, consular diplomacy, international law, economic, energy and climate diplomacy, public and digital diplomacy, etc. A number of interactive exercises were also conducted, aiming at a full introduction to the working process in the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, university lecturers, leading experts in the field of international relations, Bulgarian scientists and intellectuals took part in the course as lecturers.

The training ended with a public presentation of expert reports on topical foreign policy issues by the trainee-attaches, developed during their training under the guidance of experienced consultants from the MFA system.
