Minister Ivan Kondov talks to his Jordanian counterpart Dr. Ayman Al Safadi

On 18 May 2023, Minister Ivan Kondov held a telephone conversation with his Jordanian counterpart Dr. Ayman Al Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The conversation was held on the Jordanian initiative on the occasion of the appointment of Mr. Ivan Kondov to the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.
In spite of the courteous nature of the conversation, some important topics for both sides were discussed, related to the current developments in the Middle East and Jordan's role in them. The main focus of the talks was on the current state of regional security in the Middle East, Jordan's efforts to achieve peace and stability, as well as the opportunities to support the de-escalation processes of the Middle East conflict. Efforts by Jordan and other League of Arab States member states to normalize relations with Syria were discussed.
In the field of bilateral relations, on behalf of the Bulgarian government, Minister Kondov expressed gratitude for the assistance of the Jordanian side in the evacuation of Bulgarian citizens from Sudan. Mutual willingness and readiness to deepen the bilateral political dialogue was confirmed. In this context, Minister Kondov was invited to visit Jordan at an opportune moment.
