Meeting of Minister Ivan Kondov with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain Alejandro Polanco Mata

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov received today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic of Bulgaria Alejandro Polanco Mata. In the course of the talks, the traditionally good relations between both countries were highlighted and Minister Kondov congratulated the Spanish side on its upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2023 and expressed confidence in its success.
Our first diplomat informed about the current developments in the process of our country's accession to the Schengen area and the Spanish side confirmed its firm support in this matter.
Special attention was paid to the tensions in our relations with the Republic of North Macedonia and the problems of people with Bulgarian identity in the neighbouring country.
There was an active exchange of views on issues related to Bulgarian-Spanish cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as economy, energy, trade, tourism, education.
