The newly appointed Consul General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Bitola, Nikolay Dimitrov, officially handed over his consular patent to the Director of the State Protocol Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia, Ambassador Kenan Ramadani on 10 April 2023.
In his address, Nikolay Dimitrov said that he considered the decision of the Bulgarian State to appoint him as Consul General in Bitola as a high honour, and thanked the authorities in the Republic of North Macedonia for issuing the relevant exequatur.
He went on to state that he assumed his duties as Consul General of Bulgaria in Bitola with the sincerest intentions of contributing to the development of bilateral relations between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia within the designated consular district. He underlined the cultural proximity as well as the close proximity as excellent prerequisites and opportunities for the development of bilateral relations in various fields such as business, economy, culture and tourism.
In the course of the talks, special attention was paid to the need to increase connectivity between the two countries and cooperation in building transport infrastructure in the region along the West-East axis and the role of Corridor 8 in this regard.
