Minister Ivan Kondov received today at a protocol meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Bulgaria, H. E. Lee Ho-shik on the occasion of the expiration of his term of office.
The Minister expressed gratitude for the contribution of Ambassador Lee Ho-shik to the development of bilateral relations. He noted the great potential for intensifying high-level political dialogue, economic ties, cultural and educational exchanges. He also noted with satisfaction the upward development of the Bulgarian-Korean relations and the growing opportunities for interaction within the framework of the EU-Republic of Korea strategic partnership and the EU strategy for cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
During the talks, emphasis was placed on trade and economic cooperation, with Minister Kondov highlighting the importance of attracting strategic Korean investments in Bulgaria. The general readiness to resume the sessions of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission was stated.
Both diplomats reaffirmed the similarity of positions on important global and regional issues such as the aggression against Ukraine and the situation on the Korean peninsula. Ambassador Lee Ho-shik expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the support given to his activities and assured that he would continue to work for the development of the Bulgarian-Korean relations in the future.
