02 June 2023 News

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kostadin Kodzhabashev accepted copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to Bulgaria Messaoud Mehila.

During the meeting, the readiness of both countries to deepen cooperation in all areas of mutual interest and to intensify political dialogue at high and top level was confirmed.

Deputy Minister Kodzhabashev stressed that Algeria is a very important economic partner of Bulgaria in North Africa. He stressed the need to strengthen ties between the two countries in areas such as energy, defence industry and tourism. The possibility of holding political consultations between the two foreign ministries was also discussed.

Highlights of the talks with Messaoud Mehila included the potential for the development of trade and economic relations, as well as concrete opportunities for high-level meetings in the future — a visit by the Bulgarian foreign minister to Algeria and preparations for a state visit by the President Rumen Radev.

The Bulgarian part wished the newly appointed ambassador success in his mission. Messaoud Mehila thanked the Deputy Minister and expressed his hope for fruitful cooperation in the future.
