A Bulgarian parliamentary delegation, attended by Foreign Minister Teodora Genchovska, met today in Rome with the Italy-Bulgaria Friendship Group in the Italian Parliament. After the meeting, the Italian MPs issued a declaration on the occasion of May 24 - Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture and Slavic literature.

"On the day of the creation of the Bulgarian alphabet, we consider it necessary to pay tribute to the historical contribution of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius and their students in the creation and dissemination of Slavic writing and also to emphasize the role of the Bulgarian kingdom under Prince Boris I. We believe that one of the values of the EU is cultural and historical diversity, and for this reason we would like to recognize Bulgaria's contribution to Europe and its importance for European culture. It is important to acknowledge and remember!” the text of the declaration reads.
