21 January 2013 News

“One of the most important tasks that we are facing together is the achievement of a free trade agreement between the EU and Japan, which will create many opportunities for both the EU and for Bulgaria,” Foreign Minister Nickolay Mladenov said at a meeting with the Japanese Ambassador in Sofia, Takashi Koizumi.

The minister and the ambassador discussed the excellent bilateral political relations between Bulgaria and Japan, as well as the prospects for expanding economic and trade co-operation. Ambassador Koizumi emphasised the opportunities for strengthening relations between the two countries in the field of tourism.

Topics discussed at the meeting included the upcoming sixth meeting of the International Working Group on sanctions against Syria, which Bulgaria is to host. Bulgaria values highly Japan’s willingness to share its experience in organising the group’s most recent meeting, held in Tokyo.
