Deputy Minister Petrova received the Ambassador of Moldova to Bulgaria

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova received the Ambassador of Moldova to Bulgaria Anatol Cebuc, with whom she discussed the development of bilateral relations, the refugee flow from Ukraine, as well as issues related to the Bulgarian Diaspora in Moldova.

“Moldova is an important partner of Bulgaria in terms of the historical and cultural proximity of our peoples,” Deputy Minister Petrova said. She said that our country highly appreciates the Moldovan authorities’ policy towards the Bulgarian community in the country, confirming Bulgaria’s readiness for joint work to improve its welfare.

Deputy Minister Petrova raised key issues for the Bulgarian Diaspora in Moldova related to the administrative-territorial reform and the preservation of the status of Taraclia State University. The two discussed the proposals of the Moldovan side on these topics that are yet to be addressed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Among the highlights of the talks was the flow of refugees from Ukraine and Deputy Minister Petrova highlighted as important their long-term integration in Bulgaria. The possibility for the Honorary Consul of Moldova to our country to assist the Bulgarian side in their evacuation was also considered.

The two sides also discussed topical issues on the international agenda, including the reduction of roaming charges and Moldova’s European perspective.
