Deputy Minister Petrova held a meeting with a representative of the World Bank

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova met with Fabrizio Zarcone, Permanent Representative of the World Bank for Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Slovakia, Europe and Central Asia. 

The meeting reaffirmed the need to promote the opportunities offered by the World Bank in terms of consultation, project financing and successful practices from its experience in different countries.  

Fabrizio Dzarcone informed about opportunities for the development of infrastructure projects, including railways. He pointed out that the World Bank encourages the use of Blending with European funds and national resources, which could increase the scale of projects, such as in the field of energy efficiency.

Deputy Minister Petrova stressed that there is good coordination and political will for cooperation between the government and the World Bank, which is a prerequisite for the identification of sectoral priorities and the structuring of operational groups in individual ministries. She announced the possibility for the Diplomatic Institute to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize courses and trainings to be presented by representatives of the World Bank so that the participants could become acquainted in specifics with the opportunities for consultations and financial support in sectors such as economic sustainability, infrastructure, environment, education, etc.    

The two sides agreed on the need to enhance the capacity of the public administration to take advantage of the various opportunities offered by the World Bank.
