30 September 2021 News

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Svetlan Stoev received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Bulgaria Seyed Mohammad Javad Rasouli. The meeting followed a telephone conversation two days ago with Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian on the occasion of his recent appointment.

During the conversation, Minister Stoev stressed that the forthcoming celebration of 125 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2022 demonstrates the existence of sustainable and functioning mechanisms for cooperation, including political consultations between the foreign ministries.

The possibility of holding the next 20th Joint Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation in Tehran was also discussed during the meeting, when the necessary conditions are in place. Topics of discussion included current issues on the international agenda, including the situation in Afghanistan and migratory pressure on neighboring countries, including Iran.
