The tennis tournament under the patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs took place in Sofia

The annual tennis tournament for diplomats and friends under the patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs was held on 25th and 26th September 2021 in Sofia. Participants were divided into the following categories: "Women", "Men under 50", "Men 50+" and "Mixed couples".

Among women, Aimi Odai from the Embassy of Japan took the award, followed by Yarona van der Horst from the Netherlands.

The prizes from first to 3rd place for "Men under 50" were won by Maxim Petrov from Russia, Kostadin Petrov from the Cervantes Institute at the Spanish Embassy and Maxim Chernyshov, Russia, respectively.

The first prize in the "Men 50+" category went to Stephane Croze from France, followed by Jurgen van der Horst from the Netherlands and Tomihiro Odai from Japan.

In mixed doubles, the first 2 places were taken by married couples from Japan and the Netherlands.

The awards were presented by the Head of the State Ceremonial Department in the State Protocol Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Liliya Komitska. The competition was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Bulgarian Tennis Federation, on the courts in Boris’ Garden. Traditionally, every year, under the patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organizes chess, ski and golf tournaments for the representatives of the diplomatic corps in our country.
