Bulgaria supports the emphasis in the priorities of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU on the recovery of the Union from the crisis with COVID-19 and strengthening its resilience in crises. This was emphasized by the Acting Director General for European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vasiliy Takev, who participated in a videoconference meeting of the Directors General for European Affairs at the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the EU Member States, organized by the Slovenian Presidency.

The Bulgarian side welcomes the efforts of the European Commission to provide vaccines for all Member States and highlighted the introduction of the European electronic certificate as an important step towards normalization. Expectations were expressed that discussions on the topic of open strategic autonomy of the EU would continue. The Union needs to have the resources, capacity and key technologies to meet future challenges, remain competitive and protect its citizens, its companies and its standards.

The other priorities of the Slovenian Presidency, including enlargement policy, were also discussed during the video conference. Regarding the European integration of the countries of the Western Balkans, the Bulgarian side welcomes Slovenia's intention to keep the topic high on the EU agenda. Bulgaria's readiness to work in a constructive spirit across the spectrum of relations with the countries of the region was emphasized.
