Ambassador Milkov presented his credentials to the Director General of UNESCO

On June 24, at an official ceremony at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, the newly appointed Permanent Representative of Republic of Bulgaria to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Nikolay Milkov, presented his credentials to the Director General, Audrey Azoulay. During the ensuing meeting, the excellent cooperation and the active dialogue at the highest level between UNESCO and Bulgaria were bilaterally emphasised. Ambassador N. Milkov reaffirmed the long-term commitment of the Republic of Bulgaria to support the activities of the organisation in the areas of its mandate.

He stressed the desire of Bulgaria to work in partnership with UNESCO to build a Centre for Sustainable Technologies in Bulgaria for the countries of Southeast Europe.

For her part, the Director General, A. Azoulay, thanked for the consistent policy of Bulgaria to contribute to the realisation of the goals of the organisation.

She welcomed the progress made in the negotiations on priority topics for UNESCO: the draft Medium-Term Strategy for the period 2022-2029 and the draft program and the draft budget for the period 2022-2025, the recommendations on Open Science and on Artificial Intelligence, which are to be approved at the forthcoming

41st session of the General Conference in November.

The meeting was also attended by Iskra Angelova, First Secretary at the Embassy of Republic of Bulgaria in Paris.
