The climber Atanas Skatov was found dead

It is with great sorrow that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces that the Bulgarian climber Atanas Skatov was found dead in the area of the accident in Karakorum, Pakistan.
The Pakistani authorities informed us through diplomatic channels through our embassy in Beijing that Atanas Skatov's body is currently being transported to the nearest town in northern Pakistan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria expresses its condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased climber! Condolences were also expressed by the Pakistani government through the Pakistani ambassador to Beijing.
On February 5, 2021, at about 11:20 a.m. local time, Atanas Skatov fell while descending from Camp 3 below K2 Peak to Base Camp due to a rope break. A team of sherpas searched for the missing climber. Two Pakistani army Ecurell helicopters were also involved in the rescue operation, and one of them found it lifeless in the Paiju area of Pakistan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in contact with the relatives of Atanas Skatov and provides assistance in the case.
