Statement of the MFA on the Agreement on Normalizing Relations between Israel and the UAE

It was reported today that Israel and the UAE agreed to take steps to normalize their relations thanks to US mediation. Important bilateral agreements are due to be signed in the coming weeks in the spheres of security, investments, tourism, direct flights, etc. Under these agreements Israel undertakes to refrain from further annexations of Palestinian territories.
We welcome this extraordinarily important diplomatic breakthrough and congratulate the negotiating parties on their achievement. These agreements may turn a new page in the history of the Middle East and bring about a major change in the lives of its peoples, undoubtedly making a positive impact on global political climate. We hope that this event will give a strong impetus to efforts to overcome conflicts in this long-suffering region and create new prospects for building relations of peace and good-neighborly relations between the countries of the Middle East as a prerequisite for guaranteeing a dignified and prosperous life for future generations.
