The 3rd of March marked in Beijing with traditional Bulgarian songs and Bulgarian horo

The Bulgarian Embassy in Beijing celebrated the National Day of Bulgaria and the 140th anniversary of its Liberation with a reception hosted on the 5thof March this year. Guests of honor at the event were Wang Chao, China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Major General Zhao Peng Min, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force. Also attending were senior officials of the Chinese government, ambassadors and diplomats, representatives of Chinese state-run companies and members of academia.
The official opening of the reception started with a performance of both countries’ national anthems, following which Ambassador Grigor Porozhanov and Deputy Minister Wang Chao made welcoming speeches. The Bulgarian diplomat had meetings with Wang Chao and with the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force in the presence of Bulgaria’s military attaché to China, Lt. Col. Miroslav Sandrev, during which the parties reviewed the dynamic development of bilateral relations in the past year 2017, while also outlining the key parameters of the continuing good cooperation between the two countries in the years to come.
The guests to the event were welcomed with tea from Bulgarian roses, and the reception in the ballroom proceeded to the tune of popular Bulgarian folk songs and Bulgarian horo. Within the framework of the festive program, the Embassy presented the photo exhibition ‘The People We Live With’ by photographer Ladislav Petkov, prepared in celebration of the start of the Bulgarian EU Presidency.
