“The success of the Global Coalition demonstrated the efficiency of our common efforts”, stated Deputy Minister Todor Stoyanov at the Ministerial meeting of the partners in the Global Coalition to defeat the so-called Islamic State, which is taking place today in Kuwait.

At the conference the participants outlined guidelines and principles for consolidating and guaranteeing the success, achieved by the Coalition in liberating Iraq and Syria from the control of ISIS. Visions were discussed for preventing any re-activation of ISIS in Iraq and Syria, as well as ways to support the processes of stabilization, reintegration and reconstruction. A common understanding existed that the mission of the Coalition was not yet accomplished and that decisive, consistent and coordinated efforts were required for the conclusive defeat of ISIS.

In his intervention Deputy Minister Todor Stoyanov emphasized the efficiency of our common efforts, owing to which today Daesh was losing territories. He pointed out the importance of coordinated and mutually complementary actions of the Coalition partners. In addition to the efforts of the governments of Iraq and Syria, in whom the primary responsibility for the security of their countries is vested, he underlined the need of decisive and comprehensive support by the international community for the stabilization and reconstruction of the liberated areas. Effective political, social and economic measures are required for the stabilization of Iraq, in order to enable that country to continue the process of political reconciliation and economic development. In regard to Syria he emphasized the need of further efforts of the international community for ensuring a credible political process, within the framework of the Geneva format, on the basis of Resolution 2254 of the UN Security Council.

The Coalition comprises a total of 75 partners, including states and international organizations, such as the EU and NATO.
