“I attach special importance to the fact that our country identified young people as one of its principal priorities during the Presidency,” Deputy Prime Minister for Judicial Reform and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva said, receiving in her office the 2018 United Nations Youth Delegates from Bulgaria, Assya Pandzharova and Ralitsa Dikanska.
“We often say that young people are the future, but they are the present, too. That is why I’d very much like to see them far more actively included in decision-making processes at the local and national as well as at the European and global level,” the Deputy Prime Minister said, adding that she was happy that the experts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been helping the Youth Delegates’ preparation and presentation at the UN for eleven years now.
Minister Zaharieva reminded Assya and Ralitsa that this year the Youth Delegates face the serious and responsible task of presenting Bulgaria, among other things, as holder of the EU Council Presidency. “I am sure that you will do it in the best possible way,” the chief Bulgarian diplomat added and wished them success.
The Bulgarian Youth Delegates will participate in the 56th Session of the Commission for Social Development of the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
