On 29 November 2017, Deputy Minister Yuri Sterk received the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Sultan Al Shamsi, his accompanying delegation and the management of Expo 2020 Dubai.
The sides shared their satisfaction with the advancement of bilateral relations. Cooperation during the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council was highlighted during the conversation. The discussion covered the prospects for a further deepening of bilateral relations, holding political consultations between the two foreign ministries, expanding the contractual framework, and advancing the economic exchange. The significance of the opening of a Bulgarian embassy in Abu Dhabi and the forthcoming opening of a UEA embassy in Sofia was noted. The guests provided additional information regarding the manner of organisation of Expo 2020, which was also the subject of their talks during their visit here at the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Tourism, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Bulgarian Agency for the Promotion Small and Medium Enterprises.
