29 November 2011 News

The high points in co-operation between Bulgaria and the Free State of Bavaria include political relations, measures to combat organized crime and corruption, the areas of justice and internal security, the European Danube strategy and cultural co-operation, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Konstantin Dimitrov and Bavarian Minister for Federal and European Affairs Emilia Müller.

“Bavaria is clearly aware of the importance of integrating the Balkans into the European Union and the ensuing benefits for Germany and Bulgaria,” Konstantin Dimitrov said. He emphasised the good cooperation within the joint Bulgarian-Bavarian Commission and its contribution to the implementation of many projects.

In this regard, on behalf of Foreign Minister Nikolai Mladenov, Minister Emilia Müller was awarded the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ highest distinction, the Golden Laurel Bough.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, she said that the integration of Bulgaria into the EU and the Schengen area have always been a large part of her personal goals. She highlighted the fact that despite all the difficulties, Bulgaria maintains strict financial discipline and she praised the country’s achievements in this regard.
