The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Finland Martin Ivanov presented his credentials to the President of Finland H.E. Sauli Niinistö . The ceremony took place in the Presidential Palace in Helsinki on 1 September 2016. On his arrival at the Palace the Bulgarian Ambassador was greeted by the Commandant of the Palace Guard and Helsinki Garrison Commander while a military orchestra played the national anthem of the Republic of Bulgaria.
During the presentation of the credentials President Niinistö welcomed Ambassador Ivanov and wished him a successful mission. Following the ceremony they discussed the state of bilateral relations and current international issues.
During the meeting Ambassador Ivanov presented to President Niinistö the Bulgarian position on the migration crisis. They discussed the opportunities for extending the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of tourism, economy and education. President Niinistö emphasized that he is looking forward to his visit to Bulgaria in the middle of September 2016 for the meeting of heads of state from the Arraiolos group, which will be hosted by the Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev.
