Ambassador Petyo Petev presented his credentials as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to FAO to the Secretary General of the Organization Dr. José Graziano da Silva.The ceremony was held on 9 September 2016 at the FAO Headquarters in Rome.
After the ceremony Ambassador Petev held talks with FAO Secretary General, reaffirming the readiness of our country to support the successful achievement of the goals set by the global Food and Agriculture Organization. Ambassador Petev stated that Bulgaria is committed to work for reducing poverty and world hunger, improving the quality of food and providing healthy lifestyle to the present and future generations.
FAO Secretary General emphasized that Bulgaria is an important member of FAO and wished Ambassador Petyo Petev a successful mission as Permanent Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization. Dr. José Graziano da Silva called on Bulgaria to be more active by participating in various programmes and aid packages and in the implementation of projects in the fields of agriculture and forestry.
Dr. José Graziano da Silva focused on FAO Special Programme for Food Security as the key initiative aimed at reducing hunger rapidly and sustainably. According to him, investment in food sustainability and security would help in the fight against famine while contributing to peace building.
