Bulgaria and Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the Legal Sphere
28 March 2016 NewsMinister Daniel Mitov signed on behalf of the Republic of Bulgaria a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the Legal Sphere between the governments of Bulgaria and the Republic of Malaysia. The Foreign Minister was also authorized to sign the additional agreement under Art.2 (2) of the Memorandum. The signing took place during the visit of the Minister Mitov to Malaysia, 28-31 March 2016. This is the first visit of a Bulgarian foreign minister to the country in the history of the bilateral relations.
The Memorandum is aimed at promoting and developing mutually beneficial activities in the sphere of legal cooperation between the two countries. The main areas of cooperation are exchange of legislation on matters of mutual interest, mutual visits of legal professionals aimed at sharing experience and good practices, as well participation in joint training programmes, promotion and development of professional contacts between legal employees, and other activities of mutual interest that the parties agreed on.
The cooperation is consistent with the protection of copyright and confidentiality of information, and includes the holding of consultations between the two countries.
The additional agreement under Art.2 (2) of the Memorandum determines the participants on the Bulgarian side (employees from the specialized administration of the Ministry of Justice and prosecutors from the Prosecutor's Office) and on the Malaysian side (employees of the Office of the Prosecutor General).
This is the second memorandum of this type that Malaysia concludes with another country.
