-KARIM AL-ZAND: Fantasy on Bulgarian Rhythms (WORLD PREMIERE)

-RAVEL: String Quartet in F Major

-JANÁCEK: String Quartet No. 1, “Kreutzer Sonata”-

Basque and Slavic folk melody arrangements (Arr. Apollo)

Fantasy on Bulgarian Rhythms explores the fascinating harmonies found in folk music of the Balkan region and the asymmetrical rhythms/meters found in Bulgarian dance music. (Inspired by rachenitsa and buchimish dances specifically.) The work also draws influence from the recordings of Yuri Yunakov and the Bulgarian State Television Female Vocal Choir.
