Advice to People Travelling to Syria

MFA strongly recommends that Bulgarian citizens are not to travel to Syria except in cases of emergency. The unrest in various regions of the country is growing and the Embassy of Bulgaria in Damascus has limited possibilities to assist Bulgarian citizens in trouble.
If, nevertheless, travelling is undertaken, then all necessary measures for personal safety should be employed, visits of public places should be avoided, contacts with insurgents should be eschewed and the instructions of the local authorities should be observed.
MFA urges Bulgarian citizens, who reside temporarily or permanently in Syria, to consider options for leaving the country via regular flights of the operative airlines or other suitable means of transportation.
