Marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea

A ceremony on the validation of a postal card dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea was held today at the Museum of Communications in Sofia.

The postal card was validated by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Poriazov, Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications Valery Borisov, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Bulgaria H.E.  Shin Meng-ho.

In his speech at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Valentin Poriazov underscored the traditional friendly relations between Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea and the cooperation in important areas such as political dialogue, trade and investment, science and technology, education, culture and people-to-people exchange. He emphasized that the Republic of Korea is a key partner of Bulgaria in Asia as we share common values and work actively in bilateral and multilateral level.

Ambassador Shin Meng-ho expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Korea and the people of his country for the initiative of the Bulgarian government to validate the postal card that will be a symbol of the willingness of both parties to develop and deepen the bilateral relations in the future.

The circulation of the postal-philatelic edition is 1269 and will be distributed in the country’s post office network. The design and layout are work of artist Boyana Pavlova.

The ceremony is part of a series of events in 2015, marking the anniversary in both countries. On the same occasion today, 23 March 2015, President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Rosen Plevneliev, and President of the Republic of Korea, Park Geun-hye, exchanged congratulatory messages. Both heads of state, referring to the established traditional friendship between the two countries over the past 25 years, reaffirmed their readiness to work for the further development of bilateral cooperation and prosperity.
