Minister Daniel Mitov met with Ambassador Yuriy Isakov

Minister Daniel Mitov held today at the Foreign Ministry the first protocol meeting with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Sofia Yuriy Isakov. They discussed the main aspects of bilateral relations and agreed that they should be developed on the basis of mutual respect, despite the existing differences in the positions of both sides on certain issues.
As a member of the EU and NATO Bulgaria forms its positions on the basis of our national interest and in the spirit of the common European policies and values, Bulgarian Foreign Minister said.
Among the topics discussed was also the cooperation in the field of energy, economy, trade, tourism, culture, etc. Ambassador Isakov reaffirmed the Russian position on the importance of the South Stream project for the European energy security. For his part, Minister Daniel Mitov pointed out that for Bulgaria the future of the project depends on its compliance with the EU rules.
