20 years effective cooperation between Bulgaria and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta

"Thank you for the effective and fruitful work of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Bulgaria over the years. We hope that the cooperation between our country and the Order will continue in the future," said Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov during his meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sovereign Military Order of St. John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta, H. E. Camillo Zuccoli
Ambassador Zuccoli presented to Minister Mitov the work of the Order in Bulgaria and emphasized that its activity is mainly focused on the maintenance of health services in small and remote villages in Bulgaria, where resources are scarce and the need of medication and medical equipment is significant. He introduced to the Minister the projects of the embassy and informed him on the opening of a monument in Nikopol later that day, dedicated to the Battle of Nicopolisin 1396 in which the Knights of Malta actively participated and which is one of the last acts of resistance against the Ottoman conquest of Bulgaria.
Minister Daniel Mitov and Ambassador Zuccoli agreed on the exchange of letters between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Grand Chancellor on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and the Order of Malta. Minister Mitov invited the Grand Chancellor of the Order to visit our country at a convenient time for him.
