Minister Vigenin met with the German Ambassador Matthias Höpfner

Minister Kristian Vigenin met today with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Sofia Matthias Höpfner on the occasion of his final departure from Bulgaria. Foreign Minister thanked the German diplomat for his efforts to deepen bilateral relations and praised his work during his term in Bulgaria.
Ambassador Höpfner said that his term was an interesting and useful experience. For the last five years I have witnessed positive trends in the development of the Bulgarian society.
Minister Vigenin expressed hope for a swift decision on the accession of Bulgaria to Schengen. We proved that we are a reliable border of the EU and the gradual entry of Bulgaria into the Schengen area will have a positive impact both for Bulgaria and for the European Union as a whole, he said.
